           I can’t stress how important this post is for every coach. Audience size 500 to 5M.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           There’s a pattern I see among creators in this industry. Their content looks great. They look great. Their audience is growing. But their program sales are not moving at the same pace, or are negligible.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           The issue is not your physique or your effort. It is
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           positioning.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           When all your content shows you and only you and the only people you collaborate with are just as fit as you are (that’s great, it’s aspirational), but you position yourself as a performer. Which is great at building followers. But it doesn’t necessarily translate to building clients. For those who are smashing it with a me, me, me content - imagine your results if you took on the following advice. (Quite literally the difference between five figure months and six figure months.)
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Your ideal buyer does not look like you. They are earlier in the journey. They feel uncomfortable. They are unsure. When they scroll your page and only see elite bodies, they admire you, but they do not see themselves.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           There’s RARELY any self identification in your content, or in sales what we call a
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           bridge
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           . Without a bridge between their aspiration and the how-will-
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           they
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           -achieve results, sales will inevitably suffer.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           If you want conversions, put your actual target client persona on camera. Someone with weight to lose. Someone balancing a real job. Someone who represents the starting point of your program. Maybe with kids in the background… When your audience sees you coaching a person who looks like them, the psychological shift is immediate. “That could be me.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           And this matters more now than ever.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           I see 2026 is the year of the coach.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           AI can generate a workout and calculate macros. Information is abundant. Tools are cheap.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           What is not abundant is real coaching.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Judgment. Accountability. Correction. Adaptation. The human eye. The skilled voice that says, “Do it again. That rep wasn’t good enough.” While that “do it again” voice may not actually be incorporated into your digital program, your clients want the next best thing. And if they can see themselves being trained by you, performing the same routines or exercises that they will soon be doing by someone who looks like them, they’re way more inclined to purchase your program.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Creators who built audiences purely to then “monetize” are starting to underperform. Creators who are coaches who actually coach, or demonstrate that coaching in their content, are pulling ahead. Because when information becomes commoditized, the premium shifts to skill and accountability.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           If you only ever show yourself performing, the market sees a body. When you show yourself coaching someone who looks like them, the market sees value.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Your solo content grows the audience. Keep it.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           But if you want that audience to convert, show the coaching. Show the corrections. Show the real person being guided. Document it, as Gary Vee would say.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           In a world full of AI plans and single-feature apps, your edge is not information. It is that you are a skilled human coach.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That is what people will pay for.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           REAL EXAMPLE:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           When John and I ran Jo’s online coaching business, the highest grossing days always coincided with a
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           COMBINATION
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            of a promotion where someone at random from that cohort promotion would later be drawn to come workout with Jo,
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           AND
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            live broadcasts and stories of either a past winner or member of his community (who looked like his target audience / persona) training with him in the gym and he was not only coaching that person but turning to the camera and pointing out the nuances of that person’s form and what a great job they were doing. This was always a winning recipe for sales. Conversely, every time he posted content of him collaborating with another fitpro, follower count might increase, but sales always remained flat. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For many solopreneurs, this feels like the perfect business.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Until it doesn’t.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           The hidden trap of the high-ticket-only model
          &#xD;

           The offer is strong. The transformation is real. The money comes in quickly.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Then reality kicks in.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Creators go on holiday, come back refreshed, and realize something unsettling. There is no recurring income waiting for them. No base layer of stability. Just another month starting at zero.

           This is where the frantic burnout calls begin.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           You can make great money, but you cannot step away without consequences.
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Why the down-sell changes everything
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

           The solution is not to abandon high-ticket offers. High-ticket is powerful.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The solution is to stop relying on a single offer.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           A down-sell is often misunderstood as a cheaper fallback. Something you offer when a prospect cannot afford your main program. But essentially the same business model, just priced lower.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That is NOT how the top coaches use it.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The highest-performing coaches and creators design a structured range of offers at different price points, each with clearly defined levels of access, support, and service.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The top tier might be $5,000 or more. Below that, mid-ticket programs, some one-off, most recurring quarterly. Below that, a recurring monthly subscription. Below that, a recurring weekly option. Anything recurring is generally lumped together in an industry term MRR (monthly recurring revenue), even if it is actually billed as weekly or quarterly.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           As long as it recurs, your business strengthens.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In many cases, you may have as many as eight or ten core price points in total.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           None of them are accessible from the homepage. Some are hidden entirely from public view. Most are used strategically. Many exist as side-door pages, discoverable by AI agents, SEO, and shared intentionally as low-friction on-ramps.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           How close rates jump to 80 to 95 percent
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is where things get interesting.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Creators who implement a structured down-sell properly often see close rates jump from 30 to 50 percent all the way up to 80 or even 95 percent.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Why?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Because the sales conversation stops being binary.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It is no longer yes or no to a single price.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Instead, the conversation becomes diagnostic. Budget. Readiness. Desired level of support. When a $5,000 offer is outside the prospect’s comfort zone, the conversation does not end. It simply moves to the next appropriate option.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The prospect still becomes a customer. Just at the right level for them.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           At least once a month I end up talking to someone whose business could be booming but they’re letting fear get in the way of moving forward – of allowing bigger, better things to happen.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s a natural state. One of life’s biggest fears is fear of failure. Everyone’s afraid to flop, to make a fool of themselves, to open themselves to scrutiny, critique, ridicule, mockery. And in business, to lose customers.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           But when you give rein to your fears, they will always seem bigger than actually tackling them. Meanwhile, the handbrake of fear is keeping you from being able to impact people’s lives. And wasn’t this the reason you wanted to be in this industry? To deliver impact and to change lives?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           When you let your fears rule, what is the cost of doing nothing?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            One of my favorite bands Rush said it perfectly: 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            By staying frozen in fear, by not moving forward, you're actively choosing to let opportunities pass you by. You're choosing to keep your impact small. You're choosing to let those lives you could change remain unchanged.
            &#xD;
        &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Let’s run through some of the fears that might be holding you back – and debunk them.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           1. You’re afraid to change what’s already worked
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           When you’ve built a decent business and clientele, it can be scary contemplating a different way of doing things. After all, this is your livelihood, this is how you pay the bills and it’s a terrifying notion that changing your income model or strategy could be the difference between success or failing miserably.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s ironic, but it’s often when you take the ‘safer’ option that you fail.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Nope, we’re not suggesting you jump off the cliff. The MacroActive approach is built around consistency, with systems you can transition to gradually. We want to see you keep doing what you’re doing, just in a much smarter way.

           Let’s take a quick look at one of our very first nutritionists. She was working a crazy, round-the-clock schedule. She moved all her in-person clients onto a lower-cost web format. Where she used to make $80 per hour, she was now making $80 per person a month and her income took a massive hit. She was frustrated; this clearly wasn’t working.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           The best way forward was combining her online tool for the majority of clients with a small pool of clients she could still see face-to-face – allowing her to scale her impact AND income without missing out. Now, she might not have 9000 clients signed up, but she can work with 350 engaged and supported customers who get genuine value from her service.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           2. You feel stuck, but others are overtaking you
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Despite the fact that you have built a dedicated and engaged base of genuine, organic followers, you don’t want to put yourself out there. You convince yourself you don’t need to take your social interaction to the next level, but at the same time you feel stuck.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Soon, you begin to see your peers and industry rivals pass, leaving you in their wake. They seem to have great opportunities, while you languish right where you are.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           By wallowing in the shallows of your comfort zone, you really risk not being able to get to your next level – to realise your personal power, to give your audience more of what they want (after all, they’re there already of their own free will).
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           3. You’re afraid of screwing up
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Public speaking is right up there for most people; bringing about knee-knocking, brow-sweating, voice-trembling anxiety. Which is why many people can’t do it, won’t do it, don’t want to talk about it. FORGET ABOUT IT. It’s the number one reason going live on Instagram and Facebook is so scary for many of our clients.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           A live broadcast means there’s no place to hide if something goes wrong. If there are technical issues, if you get stage fright, if you forget what you’re meant to do next, you could look like a fool. But be assured, with each live you do, you’ll become less self-conscious and more confident.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Our best advice here is that if you want to warm yourself up for success, do a bunch of lives. Get four, five, ten lives under your belt. You’ll soon be hosting with confidence and natural persuasion – without coming across as salesy.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           You’ll get over that fear of failure, when you realise your audience is still along for the ride. When you’re honest, genuine, and can even laugh off your mistakes, you’ll carry people with you, not push them away.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           4. You’re scared to be truly authentic
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Like I said, going live is the online equivalent of public speaking – so no wonder it’s terrifying for many. Yet there is a real correlation between those who can go live and those who are successful in building a community. Live streaming builds personal connections in real time and shows who you truly are, with video a really powerful way to engage with your community. With live video, your audience is right there, can instantly ask questions, comment, react, or just follow along.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           But what happens if you’re scared to show who you really are? What if being authentically you feels way scarier than going live in the first place.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is where you can lead with knowledge. This is your moment to teach them something, showcase something new, keep them informed on the things that matter to them. Eventually, as you get comfier with that, you can start to share more of your own story – knowing that your community will come along for the ride with you.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Remember – when you’re in someone’s phone at the gym each morning, you’re creating a face-to-face experience that feels personal and genuine. Genuine means trustworthy, and trustworthy is a great thing.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           5. The buck stops with you.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Another fear that holds people back is accountability.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Many can’t get past the fear of leading from the front; being the one, accountable voice that people might want to listen to. You might be afraid to claim the authority space. When you share thoughts, opinions, and products on your platform, it’s out there, it can be challenged, it’s on the record.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           When you’re the spokesperson or face of another product or brand, it can be easy to deflect blame or heat if the relationship doesn’t work out, or if they don’t follow through. That’s human nature, and a normal response.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Yet, if you’re not fully behind the product or service you’re promoting, everything else will feel inauthentic too. If you’re truly transforming lives, you’re building the trust of every person in your community.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Sound like you? Hey, your followers are already there for a reason – it’s your job to give them more. By staying in helplessness, holding onto your fears, and not sharing your knowledge, you’re allowing your fears to be more important than other people’s lives.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           7. You’re a control freak
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Conversely, for some of our clients, perfectionism gets in the way of everything they do. And it can be a perfect excuse to keep themselves stuck in the here and now. Part of it is the fitness industry itself – it can be as much about aesthetics and ‘the right look’, as about helping people be their best selves.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           So if making sure your new logo is the right shape and size is more important to you than launching a new product or growing your business, STOP, and ask yourself how this is holding you back from your purpose.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           You can build a business and create a legacy at the same time
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           What’s your legacy?
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           When you look back on your life and your legacy, what do you want to be known for? Every month that passes that you haven’t used your superpower to its full potential is a month full of lives that you otherwise could have changed.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;

           So you need to decide: when are you going to step up?

            I have seen this story play out one too many times now and it frankly pisses me off.  So I'm writing this to our community to hopefully help someone who's going through this right now...
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           “I’m going to ask you a hard question… and be straight with me. What is holding you back from taking the leap of accelerating your business and truly fulfilling your dream to deliver fitness and health to other people's lives?”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           This quote is basically the gist of a conversation I recently had with one of the MacroActive trainers we’ve been working with on launching her own fitness platform. The first contact with her had been several years earlier, but she still wasn’t firing. This amazing woman has a strong, engaged social media following, yet her content posting and engagement had dropped off a cliff. I really wanted to understand how we could help her turn a corner to deliver that legacy, that passion to help others that had burned in her for so long. But first I had to get to the core of what was truly holding her back.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           The answer came a few days later.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “I was really passionate, and I still am – that’s not gone. To be completely transparent, I was in a terrible relationship that held me back a lot, and it’s only been in the last year I have decided to better myself and leave him.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Wow, okay. That explained a lot – because having a partner, relationship, or even a family or friendship group that isn’t supportive of you and your dreams is not only painful, it can also derail you entirely.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           And unfortunately, it’s way more common than you might be aware.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           As I finish writing this on December 19th, 2025, this same conversation almost verbatim happened again with another beautiful soul who had been CRUSHING it for years.  When we first met they had been on welfare for years (generational from her parents kind of situation) and they had begun to succeed at helping new mums feel more confident about getting to the gym and/or working out at home. Very quickly they were excelling and earning a solid and respectable 6 figure income.  This this lasted steadily for years. Then suddenly, you could see her engagement online evaporate, and with it, the sales and revenue.  We caught up recently again because they want to get back on track and firing again.  As it transpired, we learned that their partner who didn't like all the attention they were getting via DMs had forbidden them from using the DMs on socials.  &amp;#55358;&amp;#56614;&amp;#55356;&amp;#57340; The very tool that they use to communicate with clients and close new ones.  &amp;#55357;&amp;#56468;  Heartbreaking.   
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           At a Las Vegas conference several years ago, I sat with one of the MacroActive trainers whose story resonates on today’s theme. A very famous YouTuber!!  When he was nearing the end of college, his family’s expectation was for him to join his dad’s accounting firm in Austin, Texas. However, his real passion was fitness. After high school, he’d started posting pictures on social media of his workouts, and his body transformations gained him thousands of followers in the process. He began to wonder if fitness might be the career path for him, rather than joining the family firm.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           The whole time he was still dating his high school sweetheart. But she was less than overjoyed at the attention his fitness posts got; the comments from other girls and the DMs that filled his inbox. Obsessively stalking his page, and demanding to see his messages, the unhappy girlfriend insisted he shut down the account. So, thinking he was being a good boyfriend, he did. He shelved his fitness account and focused on finishing school.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           But with a few months until graduation and D-day (working for his dad) looming, he found himself grappling with what he wanted to do moving forward. He was filled with anxiety. What would make him happy? Was it accounting? (NO!) After a heart to heart with the person who should have been his biggest supporter – his girlfriend – he reached a decision.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           So did he follow his heart or his head? Well, the clue is in where I met him (at a fitness event). Yep, at the crunch point, it was the relationship that imploded. As for the fitness dream, he was inspired by the example of Josef Rakich…and pressed go.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           In the weeks before graduation, he doubled down on his goals – posting every single day, building up to hundreds of thousands of followers on YouTube and other platforms. He launched the day before graduation and made $227,000 in just three days. And his success has continued.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           A happy ending – except for the part where the people in his life he leaned on the most didn’t support his entrepreneurial passion.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           I could tell you plenty more stories like these. In these examples, it was pulling the rip cord and freeing themselves from these unsupportive relationships that enabled these trainers to move forward. But a drastic step like that might not be needed if both parties are willing to talk and listen.
            &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           So here are some places to start:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Acknowledge there’s an issue
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Firstly, being truthful with yourself is a great place to begin. When you admit what is holding you back you can begin to fix it. Finding yourself in a situation where someone you love isn’t supportive of your purpose and passion can negatively impact your mindset. It can knock your confidence, leave you wondering where to start anew, what to do first, and how to reassert those dreams and plans.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           So, ask yourself, are you being held back from what could ultimately be your life’s legacy by those around you?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Talk it over with someone you trust
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s helpful to have someone to talk to about it – a trusted friend, family member, or even a therapist. An outside perspective might clarify, validate, or give you a different perspective about how you’ve been feeling. Ultimately, if you want to talk to those who feel unsupportive, you’ll need to come from a place of positivity and clarity.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Hear them out
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Confronting the issue might bring some surprises. Sometimes it’s jealousy, sometimes it’s their own insecurity, occasionally it’s a total lack of awareness of what you have been going through. By talking about it, chances are you can find common ground or possibly even win them over to your way of thinking. However, if they continue to dismiss your goals as silly, dangerous, naive or make you second guess yourself, it might be time to walk away. They’re not just putting out roadblocks to stop you in your tracks, they are the roadblock itself.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Find your tribe
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There will always be people in your life who fit right in and make you feel good. You might be too much for some people, but so what? They are not your people. Instead, surround yourself with the tribe you deserve, the people who’ll reflect how you want to be and where you want to go.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h4&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Reach out for your ‘what next’
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h4&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Remember the female trainer from the start of this article? Although she offloaded the baggage of a bad relationship, she found herself all at sea when it came to getting her fitness platform back on track. Where should she start? Would her audience even still be there for her? Would we hold her hand and help her get back on track? You bet!
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           We get it, change is daunting and confronting the things holding you back from your purpose can be scary.            While David Lee Roth tells several versions of where the song “jump” came from, the real theme of the song is how they were stuck in a vicious merry-go-round with their record label, their situation “ain’t the worst that you’ve seen”, with their backs against the wall, or in their case, “against the record machine.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           A machine that grossed WAY MORE PROFIT from Van Halen’s creativity and innovation than the band itself did.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           As you read this article, think about this:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Are you building your own brand? Or making someone else rich?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           If you were a music&amp;#55356;&amp;#57269; artist who had just signed a big record deal in the 1960s, 70s, or 80s, life probably felt pretty great, for a minute. It was commonplace for musicians and bands to be lured, then held like flies in sticky paper, by a fat, upfront signing bonus. Yet while many young artists were, overnight, living &amp;#55358;&amp;#56600;&amp;#55356;&amp;#57340; rock star lives in the form of huge six figure advances, when the glamorous &amp;#55358;&amp;#56617; tours ended, they nearly all would discover they were millions of dollars in debt,&amp;#55358;&amp;#56620; and the only way to climb out of debt was to keep producing more albums for their record labels — which were making the lion’s share of all gross revenues.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           With their “back against the record machine” Van Halen was forced for five years to keep churning out records to climb out of debt, held hostage to a “hellaciously bad” and watertight contract they had signed as unknowns.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Many acts from this era were in a way renting their brand, but even worse than that, actually signing away incredible portions of the publishing, performance and mechanical rights to the big labels, sacrificing not only future earnings but their ability to maintain their artistic freedom, uniqueness, and individuality.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           I see a flavor of this history repeating itself in today’s influencer space — especially in the fitness industry, and I’m compelled to write about it.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s all too easy to get bedazzled &amp;#55358;&amp;#56593; by a large payment. As another song goes “what the big print giveth, the small print taketh away.”&amp;#55357;&amp;#56865; When the people and products you’re promoting move on to the next ‘salesperson’ — what do have to show for it? Who wins when you rent out your brand?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           When the music stops &amp;#55357;&amp;#57041; — what have you got left?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Money is great to have. But while social influencer agencies dangle the carrot enticing you to do paid posts about the power of the latest, greatest tea cleanse to hit the market, most industry influencers or brand ambassadors don’t stop and think about how that affects their own brand.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           That company is piggybacking&amp;#55357;&amp;#56338; on your goodwill. It uses the trust and relationships you have established with your audience❤️ to siphon attention away in order to sell its own product. To the detriment of your brand.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           There are a tonne of examples of this, but I can think of one HUGE fitness influencer, with around 8 million followers. Because of his devoted audience and reach he can command $50K for a single post. Now, that’s a lot of money — who couldn’t use a regular $50,000 top-up right? Plus, he’s a magnet for companies with products to sell.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           So he’s making good coin posting and promoting someone else’s product — and wondering why his own product sales (you know, the ones labelled with his brand) are taking a hit. When you look at his posts and stories, it goes ‘sponsored post’,&amp;#55358;&amp;#56692; ‘sponsored post’,&amp;#55358;&amp;#56610; ‘sponsored post’ &amp;#55358;&amp;#56622; and then, &amp;#55358;&amp;#56593;‘hey, take a look at this great product I’ve developed’. And he wonders why his own product sales are falling flat…
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           His own brand is getting diluted and lost in this barrage of other people’s products. He’s renting his brand to another company, while destroying the value of what he’s created for himself.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           So how do you know if you’re diluting the value of your own brand? Try asking yourself:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ol&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Are you spending more time promoting someone else’s product than working with your own audience/clientele?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Is your customer base and/or engagement declining 〽️ while the brand you’re pushing is growing?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Are you making less money from your core fitness business than you are from paid posts?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Are you using the money from paid promos to pay your business bills, rather than money you’re generating through your own clients?

            Do you actually believe in the product you’re selling/promoting?
           &#xD;

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Moral of the story? Sometimes it’s best to say no&amp;#55357;&amp;#57003;, and walk away from those paid opportunities.
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           But wait — who can afford to turn down good, legal, easy money? For a business owner, that probably doesn’t seem like a very smart strategy. Why can’t being a successful influencer be a legitimate and profitable arrangement for both parties? Depends how you look at it.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Just like cars, when you rent something over and over, its value goes down. Eventually that shiny rental car is going to be dinged and dented and no-one is going to want it. The way companies treat your brand can be categorized in the same way.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           ⚠️The danger of renting out your brand: a cautionary tale⚠️
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           A real life example is that of a well-known bodybuilder and fitness legend, &amp;#55357;&amp;#56490;&amp;#55356;&amp;#57342; Flex Wheeler. Arnold Schwarzenegger described him as one of the greatest bodybuilders he’d ever seen. Anyway, I was lucky enough to catch up with this legend two years ago in Las Vegas, weeks before he lost his right leg due to circulatory issues.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           About 15 years ago, Flex landed a contract with an unknown name, brand-new supplement company. They offered him big money to be the face of the brand, so for the next decade, he was paid handsomely to travel with them and promote the product. He showed up at every single event they needed him to show up at, and with his influence and reach, this no-name company grew into a multi-hundred-million dollar company. In other words, it’s doing pretty damn well.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           However, some months before I saw him, the company told him they’d decided not to renew his long-standing contract. &amp;#55358;&amp;#56623; He was flabbergasted — after all, he’d been with them since the beginning. All they had to say was that they were (so) big now, they didn’t need him anymore.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And just like that, it was over. He got spat off the carousel.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           The lightbulb moment. &amp;#55358;&amp;#56614;&amp;#55356;&amp;#57340;♂️ He realized that the whole time he’d been collecting a pay cheque, he’d been helping them build a mega-million dollar business. They were the one with the asset, while he had nothing to show for it, no asset of his own.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           And that’s a pretty sobering moment.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Are you just collecting a pay cheque? Are you building your own business or making someone else rich?&amp;#55358;&amp;#56616;

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Many influencers we work with start out feeling trapped on the gravy train. They say, “A little piece of me dies &amp;#55357;&amp;#56850; every time I have to promote this face cream/protein powder/active wear range. But it’s the only way I know how to make money, or keep money coming in regularly.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What happened to Van Halen’s hellacious contract?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Among many of the OMGs&amp;#55358;&amp;#56614;&amp;#55356;&amp;#57340; of their original contract, one of the clauses allowed the record label to perpetually renew their contract with all original terms from when they were unknowns. As a tactic to distract the label, Noel Monk, Van Halen’s manager, famously became the biggest pain in the ass for the record label, requesting enormous volumes of detailed sales reports, that the label messed up and overlooked their window to renew the contract. At that point they were free agents &amp;#55356;&amp;#57225; and Monk renegotiated their contract to make them multi-millionaires overnight.&amp;#55356;&amp;#57214; The group would go on to become famous contract negotiators, until their new love for negotiating turned inward with each other and the rest is history.   &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Back yourself.
          &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Look, this isn’t to say that you CAN’T promote other brands; just be vigilant &amp;#55358;&amp;#56596; of what it is doing to your own brand. Authenticity is the key. If you’ve grown an audience, you’re likely to have done it through delivering truthful, entertaining content that people want to see. That’s why your savvy followers are going to see right through you if you try to whip up interest in a brand that either doesn’t align with your own values, or is something your audience doesn’t care about.&amp;#55357;&amp;#56489;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           If you’re relying too heavily on someone else’s product to make your business pay, you’re working for them. And they’re definitely not working for you.

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           So don’t sell yourself short. Don’t sell your credibility to the first bidder. Don’t erode your audience’s trust. Most of all, don’t let yourself get into an agreement that puts your back up against the wall.

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Instead, invest in yourself and put your own brand first — that’s how you’ll build sustainable success.&amp;#55357;&amp;#56520;
